Madill Beats Kingston to Open 2022 Season, Retains Traveling Trophy

Holden McGahey scored twice on the ground and Ty Rushing tossed three touchdown passes in a runaway 43-16 win for the Madill Wildcats over Kingston on the gridiron Friday to open the 2022 season. The ‘Cats built a 24-0 lead by halftime after a scoreless first quarter. Stephen Sisco hauled in the second of his two TD reception when Rushing found him on a 48-yard TD strike with 10:15 left in the third frame to make it 31-0 Madill. McGahey sliced through the defense on a 62-yard scoring jaunt at the 3:31 mark of the third and Reagan Combs’ 28-yard run capped the scoring. Yovanny Robles caught a 37-yard TD pass from Rushing and Tyron Glover made a leaping catch for the 2-point conversion with 4:48 left in the second quarter. 

McGahey broke the scoreless tie on a four-yard run. The Madill defense was credited with a safety when a punt snap sailed out of the back of the end zone. Madill plays at Lone Grove next Friday.

Madill retained the Marshall County Super Bowl Trophy for a second consecutive season.
