Madill battled late into the fourth quarter, but couldn’t overtake Lone Grove in a 21-17 loss to the Longhorns. Madill’s hopes ended on a turnover with less than a minute to go at the midfield stripe.
Tyron Glover returned an interception 61 yards for the touchdown to give Madill a 7-0 edge with just 54 seconds remaining in the opening frame. Lone Grove took the lead on Braxton Sparks’ two-yard run and two-point pass to McLean with 10:07 left in the first half. Stephen Sisco caught a 35-yard TD pass from Ty Rushing to grant Madill a 14-8 lead with nine minutes to go in the first half. Yovanny Robles made it 17-8 Madill with a 36-yard field goal at the 8:20 mark of the third. McLean closed the gap with a 25-yard TD reception for the ‘Horns at the 4:47 mark of the third frame. Sparks went in from two yards out to give the Lone Grove club the 21-17 lead with 10:39 left to play.
