Madill quarterback Ty Rushing connected with receiver Stephen Sisco five times through the air for scores Friday night as the ‘Cats crushed the Comets 46-0 on the gridiron. The Wildcats stacked up 40 points in the first half. Eli Vinson scored on a rushing touchdown and Yovanny Robles also returned an interception for a TD in the victory. The Madill defense kept the Comets scoreless. Madill is on a bye week Sept. 16 before going to Broken Bow to begin district play.
“Man, we just grew up together. Ty can read the field, I can read the field. We know what’s going to happen before the play even starts,” Sisco said.
“We have the greatest connection you could ask for,” Rushing said.
Sisco first found the end zone on a 25-yard TD with eight minutes to go in the first. Then Rushing threw a 39-yard TD pass to Sisco with 5:54 left in the first. That’s when Robles picked off a pass and returned in 23 yards for the score. Sophomore Eli Vinson’s one-yard plunge pushed Madill in front 27-0. The Rushing-Sisco connection was still flowing with a TD pass of 36 yards with 8:40 left in the first half. That familiar connection continued as Sisco hauled in a Rushing pass from 16 yards away just before the halftime horn sounded.
With Madill’s stingy defense holding the Comets from the scoreboard, Sisco’s fifth TD of the evening arrived with 6:22 to go in the third frame. The clock ran for much of the final frame as Madill recorded the shutout on defense. The ‘Cats defense collected four turnovers. River Shaw and Adan Yanez picked up Comet fumbles.
“It gives us big confidence going into districts,” Rushing said about the shutout for Madill.
