Madill's Comeback Attempt at Broken Bow Announces 'Cats' Return to Class 4A; Watch on Demand

The ‘Cats’ comeback attempt Friday at Broken Bow announced Madill’s return to Class 4A despite the 34-33 loss to the top 10 ranked Savages. The Wildcats’ hopes of victory floated away on an incomplete pass on fourth down with 52 seconds left in the contest. Madill stormed back after falling into a 21-0 hole in the first half. Madill briefly grabbed the lead on a spectacular 87-yard touchdown reception by Stephen Sisco. He sprinted to his route with his defender in his left hip pocket, welcomed the pass tossed by Ty Rushing in srtide at the 50, latched onto the ball as it was being wrenched from his wrists, shed the tackler draped across his forearm at the 15 and stumbled into the end zone at the 3:45 mark of the final frame. The two-point conversion failed and the score stood 33-27 ‘Cats. Unfortunately, Broken Bow immediately answered on its next offensive play with a 71-yard TD pass and subsequent extra point. The Wildcats’ final drive bogged down at the Savages’ 46-yard line on a turnover on downs. Madill had seen themselves falling behind early, but refused to give in. Caden McHatton emerged from a pack near the sideline on a pass thrown by Rushing and raced in for the score from 52 yards out to put Madill on the board with 5:04 to go in the second frame. The second of Sisco’s three TD receptions came with 26 ticks left in the first half on a 73-yard pass from Rushing to make it a 27-13 game at half. Madill’s defense continued to cause problems for Broken Bow quarterback Christian Brumley in the second half. The only Broken Bow points of the second half arrived with less than four minutes in the game. Yovanny Robles picked off his team-leading fifth pass in the game and Eli Vinson recovered a fumble. River Shaw blocked a punt. Vinson scored a touchdown from three yards out with 9:08 to go in the game to pull Madill even with the Savages on Robles’ extra point.
