Pirates Pilfer Win over Wildcats at Horn; Gomez, Shaw Homecoming Royalty; Watch on Demand

A heave from Ty Rushing found the reliable hands of Stephen Sisco at the Pirates 15-yard line as time expired Friday, but Sisco was tackled immediately as the clock hit zero. Madill had just recovered the onside kick following a Rushing-Sisco connection from four yards out to score and get within 17-14 with Adam Martinez’s extra point. Madill fell 17-14 to Pirates.

The Madill-Poteau game lived up to expectations.The Wildcats took the early lead on the No. 4 team in 4A when River Shaw fought his way to the end zone from nine yards away on a pass from Rushing on the first frame’s final play. With 4:23 to go in the second quarter, Poteau scored on a passing play from quarterback Sam Tecla to Gamble. The Pirates’ kicker Ethan McBee missed a 37-yard field goal with 37 seonds left in the first half.

The entire third frame was void of scoring. Poteau gained the edge on a 25-yard field goal with 8:29 remaining. Jackson Sommers broke through with s 30-yard interception return for a Pirate TD strech the edge to 17-7. 

Lucero Gomez is homecoming queen and River Shaw is homecoming king.
