Wildcat Weekend: 'Cats, Cougars to Tangle on Gridiron; XC Heads to Waurika; Links to Follow

The Madill football team heads to Pontotoc County Friday to face one of the most decorated football programs in Oklahoma high school history. They will meet the Ada Cougars at Koi Ishto Stadium on the campus of East Central University. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and is expected to be streaming on Madill’s Livestream (click here to watch). The Wildcats are 2-3 on the year. However, the three losses have been by a total of eight points. Stephen Sisco continues a wildly successful senior campaign as a wide receiver. He has 12 touchdown receptions through the first half of the season. Quarterback Ty Rushing has thrown 15 touchdown passes. Yovanny Robles has intercepted six passes. Holden McGahey and Eli Vinson each have two rushing TDs. River Shaw had 10 tackles last week, recovered a fumble and a crucial onside kick.

According to Ada athletics director Christie Jennings, backpacks are not allowed in Koi Ishto Stadium.

Madill last played Ada in 2015. It has been since 1987 that the two have met as district oppponents. Madill and Ada met once in the playoffs in 1983. The ‘Cats are 0-5 in that span against the Cougars.

Madill’s cross country team runs in Waurika Saturday beginning at 9:30 a.m. The girls are ranked No. 9 in Class 4A and the boys are No. 15. The girls secured second place overall in Byng. The boys earned third. Yadira Barbosa continues to pace the Lady ‘Cats and James Valadez for the boys. Coverage is expected on Madill’s Livestream (click here to watch).
