Madill quarterback Ty Rushing threw five touchdown passes for the second time this season to help power Madill’s 58-27 victory over Fort Gibson Thursday. Madill scored first and really never looked back at Blake Smiley Stadium. Stephen Sisco’s outstanding senior season continued by him posting at least 100 yards receiving in the sixth of seven games in 2022. He now has the single season receiving yards mark for Madill. He will add to that with each future yard in 2022. Holden McGahey celebrated his birthday Thursday with his two rushing TDs and eclipsing the 100-yard mark for the second time this year. The game was essentially decided by the half as the Wildcats built a completely comfortable 44-6 cushion by the end of the second quarter.
River Shaw put Madill on the board with a 13-yard TD reception with less than two minutes gone by in the game’s first frame. Senior Yovanny Robles booted a 32-yard field goal to push Madill’s lead to 10-0 with 7:13 to go in the first quarter. Sisco added the first of his two TD catches on a 46-yard scoring play in the first. Rushing plunged into the end zone on a four-yard run with 9:16 remaining in the first half. Rushing found Robles on a 30-yard TD pass play with 8:15 left in the half. McGahey’s 12-yard jaunt stretched Madill’s advantage to 37-0 at the 6:47 mark of the second period. Shaw caught a second TD pass fro 38 yards out with 3:03 to go before the half. Fort Gibson got a TD in the final minute of the opening half.
Fort Gibson continued its’ offensive surge as the third quarter began. The Tigers scored three times before the ‘Cats curtailed the effort. With the score 44-21, Sisco hauled in another scoring pass from Rushing with only 42 ticks left in the third stanza from 44 yards away. McGahey’s 21-yard scamper gave Madill the 58-21 edge with 6:12 to go in the contest.
Stephen Sisco has established a new school record for TD receptions in a season with 14 through the first seven games. He also has the most yards receiving in one game with 232 yards against Broken Bow early in season. These records reflect the best information aravilable at this time understood to be in the history of Madill football that spans more than 105 years on gridiron. He is on pace to establish a new school record for career receiving yards. These numbers will increase as the remainder of the season awaits the finish line.
