River Shaw caught the go-ahead touchdown pass from Ty Rushing with 3:04 to play and the ‘Cats held on for a 26-24 win over Sallisaw on Thursday night. Shaw caught the ball at the 11-yard line, broke a tackle, and pulled three defenders into the end zone with him on the 15-yard scoring play. Stephen Sisco caught a pair of TDs from Rushing, as well. Madill wrapped the season at 4-6 and just missed making the playoffs in 2022. Rushing’s one-yard plunge pushed the ‘Cats in front 13-0 with 2:12 to go in the first. Sisco scored his first TD on a 21-yard pass with 10:59 on the clock in the first frame. Sisco wrenched the ball away from his defender on a three-yard reception in the end zone at the 8:43 mark of the third quarter to build the 17-point lead for Madill at 20-3.
Sallisaw stormed back to take a 24-20 advantage with 4:35 left in the contest before Shaw scored what proved to be winning touchdown on the ensuing drive for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats led 13-3 at the half.
