Wildcats Flip Script on Savages, Advance to Area Tournament, Broken Bow Bows Out; Watch on Demand

One of Madill’s four losses came at the hands of Broken Bow in January. That’s all a distant memory now as the Wildcat basketball team flipped the script Saturday for a convincing 55-40 win for the regional consolation championship. The victory Saturday propels the ‘Cats into the area tournament at 7:30 p.m. March 2 in Henryetta against Class 4A No. 12 Catoosa. Madill’s boys basketball had not achieved the area round in the playoffs since 2014.

Madill built a 20-13 advantage in the first half with the strength of River Shaw’s ability to rebound and get to the foul line early.

Senior RJ Morris caught fire on the offensive side of the floor with nine consecutive points in the third frame for the ‘Cats to create some space. He finished with 17 points. He manifested 15 of those points in the second half alone. Stephen Sisco nailed a three-point basket to help stretch Madill’s lead in the second half. Brylan James hit a crucial bucket to answer a three netted by Broken Bow to cut the ‘Cats lead to 38-34. JD Runyan caused a key turnover. Junior Ethan Wilkerson battled through some tough defenders to cap off the night with a demonstrative dunk.
