For years, Madill’s cross country program has been recognized among the best in the state of Oklahoma. Nine of the 16 team state titles in Madill High School history have been collected via XC. The Lady ‘Cats were state runners-up in 2019 under current head coach Cale Eidson.
This year, the Wildcats have been impressive. Yadira Barbosa was named the female athlete of the week by The Ardmoreite . She just won the individual gold at the first-ever McLoud meet on Saturday. She is an all-Lake Country Conference performer alongside Triston Barnes and Jose Campos.
The Madill teams swept gold in Sulphur Sept. 19. The boys ran to fifth place in the pre-state meet in Edmond and the girls finished sixth overall Sept. 23. Both finished higher than experts expected.
The latest OHS Track ranking has the Madill boys moved up to No. 7 and the Lady Wildcats climbing to No. 8 in Class 4A. Click to View OHSTrack poll
The teams run at the Waurika meet Oct. 10 before the regional Oct. 21 and the Class 4A state meet Oct. 28.
