The Madill basketball season officially ended today at the area tournament in Stroud. There were numerous highlights in the season. The Madill girls netted a record of 16-13. The girls under new head coach Eric Holmes in his first year as head coach of the Lady ‘Cats, advanced to the area tournament for the first time in a decade. The Lady ‘Cats upset No. 20 Muldrow in the area consolation quarterfinals. Madill managed to test No. 6 Inola girls Friday, but the Lady ‘Horns were just too much for Madill, hitting multiple buckets from beyond the arc. The Lady ‘Cats defeat Class 3A ranked Kingston squad.
For the Wildcats, the Madill boys finished 22-5 one win away from consecutive Lake Country Conference titles.They achieved a final OSSAA poll ranking of No. 6. Ethan Wilkerson eclipsed the 2,000 point mark (2286) in his high school career.They defeated a ranked Ardmore group and a ranked Byng team along the way. Wilkerson also logged more than 300 blocks and 1000 rebounds.
