The next iteration of the Madill-Kingston Marshall County Super Bowl kicks off the 2024 campaign at 7 p.m. on Friday inside Blake Smiley Stadium in front of a crowded house of football fans.
The next Madill football head coach John Heavner commences his era in earnest this Friday. He comes to Madill from Denison High School in Texas where he was an assistant. Kingston is coming off a 10-2 season in which they claimed a district title in 2023. The Oklahoman has the Redskins at No. 11 in its’ preseason rankings.
The Wildcats are listed at No. 28 in the 4A rankings ahead of kickoff. There is no denying the positive buzz created by incoming freshman Kris Grimaldo who has already received division I offers including UTSA, Baylor and Arkansas.
Since 1980, Madill is 31-11 against Kingston. The ‘Cats’ most recent win in the series was a 43-16 triumph in 2022. Madill has strung together a six-game winning streak in the series three times in the span. Kingston’s longest winning streak has been three games from 1986-88. Madill has scored 50 or more points in the series four times since 1980. The Wildcats amassed 56 points in 2009 and 2010. Madill managed 55 points in 2007 and 54 points in 1994. The ‘Cats are 6-2 against the Redskins as district opponents.
