Madill Event Center Begins Journey on Local Campus; Closes Chapter on Wildcat Fieldhouse

The Madill Event Center has begun the next chapter on the Madill High School campus. The 51,500 square-foot facility has opened as the host to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) classes. Aviation courses and drone classes are now part of the MHS curriculum that will provide local high school with a college-level experience before graduation. The basketball gymnasium will seat 1994 fans in the arena. The lobby features a concession area and hall of fame room. The arena has a lower bowl and upper section for seating. A hospitality room is located above the basketball court. This was approved in a bond issue in September of 2019 by 73.97% of the total votes cast. It came with a $15.49 million dollar price tag. In effect, the Madill Event Center takes over the role served by the Madill Wildcat Fieldhouse.

“We are extremely proud of our new Event Center,” Madill athletics director Brett Weiberg said. “It is truly a first class basketball facility and our fans are in for a real treat. The people of Madill are so supportive of our school and we are grateful.”

All Madill High School students gathered Friday morning inside the event center for the first time. They heard the school orientation rules and regulations from high school principal Jason Ward and dean of students Chad Speer. Josh Sisco led them on a brief tour of the entire structure.

The Madill Event Center will also host more community events than just sporting events.
