The Madill football team readies for the 2022 season opener against familiar Marshall County foe Kingston. Madill is coming off its’ best campaign in five years. They finished 6-4 last year and just missed making the playoffs. Under Coach Speer, the Wildcats jump back into the Class 4A fray. But, Madill plays Kingston at 7 p.m. on Friday (Aug. 26) inside Blake Smiley Stadium on Alumni Field. The ‘Cats defeated Kingston 36-35 in the 2021 county clash on the road.
Since 1980, Madill is 30-10 against the Redskins. Eight of the contests in the span have been decided by eight points or less. The ‘Cats have shut out Kingston seven games in that time frame. Last season’s one-point win for Madill was the slimmest margin of victory in 42 years. Twice Madill has scored 56 points on Kingston in triumph in that span (2010 & 2011). The fewest points Madill has scored in a win over Kingston since 1980 was six.
