The Madill softball team held off Marietta to win 2-1 Saturday afternoon on Tom Reynolds Field. Peyton Arnold picked up the pitching win as she went five innings from the circle and struck out six Marietta batters. Maryn Mancini recorded the save in the circle as she came in to relieve Arnold for two innings of work. Mancini fanned two and surrendered only one hit.
The Lady Indians scored first in the top of the first inning. Madill immediately responded with their two runs in the bottom half of the first inning. Marietta collected six hits to Madill’s four on the afternoon. Lauren Campbell was 2-for-3 at the plate with a double. Dahlia Marris went 1-for-3 and Laila Pickens was 1-for-3 in the game.
Madill hosts Ringling Sept. 13 before the Durant tournament.
