Red Ribbon Week Recognized at School; Holds Significance at MHS

Madill Schools is recognizing Red Ribbon Week this week on campus. ‘Be Kind to Your Mind. Live Drug Free’ is the national theme Oct. 23-31.

The emphasis encourages students to remain drug free in life. At Madill, the week is under the direction of the local Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD). SADD was formerly known as Students Against Drunk Driving. The local school SADD organization in Madill was established by then English teacher Cindy Dodds following the January 1990 death of then MHS senior Nikki Jones in an alcohol-related traffic accident in which she was only a passenger.

Science instructor Kelly Goff serves as the SADD sponsor for MHS. There are dress up days through the week and prizes are awarded daily.

Thursday is favorite college day and Friday will be black & gold day.
