Boys Basketball Team Wins Consolation Title in Classic; Girls Lose to Collinsville; Watch on Demand

Diego Flores was fouled as the horn sounded to conclude the boys consolation of the 2018 Madill Winter Classic Saturday. His free throw closed and locked the door on Gunter after the fact of victory. Madill won 38-36 over Gunter.

Gunter got out of the gate fast to hold a 10-8 edge in the first frame. The ‘Cats doubled up the Tigers 12-6 in the second quarter to hold a 20-14 advantage at the half. 

The Wildcats were outscored 14-12 in the third period. However, Madill had the 32-28 lead.

Madill’s defense in the waning minutes managed to keep the the Tigers from recapturing the lead.

Diego Flores and Maria Flores were named to the all-tournament squad.

The Lady ‘Cats lost 68-35 to Collinsville. Madill fell behind 17-7 by the end of the first quarter. The Lady Pirates were out to a 38-20 lead by intermission. The third quarter proved to be the Lady ‘Cats best of the day by outscoring Collinsville 13-12 in that span.
