Madill Boys Conquer Comets, Girls Drop Game; Gillises Named Royalty; Watch on Demand

HomecomingThe boys basketball club conquered the Comets 48-42 on homecoming. However, the girls lost 59-52 to Dickson. Caitlin Gillis claimed the queen’s crown and Justin Gillis was named the king on Friday.

The Madill boys found themselves in familiar territory Friday against Dickson. They built a 27-22 advatage by halftime and employed solid defense in the second half for the victory. The Wildcats outscored the Comets 10-7 in the third quarter.

Asa Robertson had a team-leading 15 points. Miguel Duran added 11 points. Seth Coleman had seven points. Austin Maxey chipped in five points, Luke Magness finished with four points, Diego Flores had three points as did Wyatt Gray.

The Lady Wildcats outscored Dickson in the second and fourth quarters Friday. However, the Lady Comets bested Madill in the first and third quarters. Dickson came out in the opening frame and gained a 16-9 cushion. Madill bounced back by scoring 18 points in the second to cut into the Lady Comets lead for a 31-27 score at intermission. The Lady Comets managed to duplicate the production from the first quarter and grabbed the 47-36 edge by the end of the third frame.

Kristen Chapa had a team-high 17 points on the night. Jayden Weiberg had 15 points and Abbie Lambertsen added 11 points. Ashlynn Arnold had four points, Mariana Mendez and homecoming queen Caitlin Gillis each had two points. Senior Maria Flores added one point.
