Ulysses Camacho knocked away a shot on goal sent aflight from the toe of Jared Orta to secure the shutout over Dove Science Academy 1-0 on Tuesday for the Wildcats’ soccer squad. Only 13 seconds were left in the match as Orta lofted the soccer ball toward the net and it curled just under the crossbar while in flight. Camacho alertly tracked the flight of the shot and punched the ball over the net to save the night for Madill. Freshman Fransisco Perez accounted for Madill’s lone goal. He now has all three goals in the last two matches for Madill. The win is important in the district race. With the victory, Madill currently holds the top spot in the group with games left to be played. The ‘Cats haven’t lost a district tilt yet in 2019.
In the girls match, Madill senior Maria Flores booted a goal to cut the Dove Science lead in half at 2-1. However, that score held for the balance of the game and the Lady ‘Cats dropped the match.
