A header shot to the top corner of the net from EJ Holliday with 34:16 to go in the second half gave Madill a 3-1 cushion in the second half that held up for the eventual two-goal victory over Kingfisher for the boys soccer team in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs Thursday at Blake Smiley Stadium. The win sets up the second-round match with the winner of the Cache-Bethany contest next Tuesday.
Fransisco Perez got the ‘Cats a 1-0 edge with 33:24 left in the first half with his goal that gingerly bounced by the Kingfisher keeper. With 29:30 remaining in the first half, Perez kicked his second goal for a 2-0 lead for the Madill squad with help from Saul Salinas to slide the ball by a Yellowjacket defender. Kingfisher cut the margin in half on a penalty kick with 38:45 left to play in the match.
