A five-run second inning was all the scoring Madill needed to claim a 5-3 win against Turner in the Calera softball tournament Saturday afternoon in the sweltering heat.
Abbey Tiernan started the scoring for the Lady ‘Cats by coming home from third on a wild pitch. She had singled. Peyton Arnold scored the second run after reaching base on an error. An Emilie Johnson single pushed across to score Cheyenne Lansdale who had reached on an error. Ximena Gomez’ single to second scored Landsdale. MaKenzie Reed’s double brought in Johnson for the fifth run of the frame.
Reed got the pitching win while striking out five Falcons and giving up just five hits in the entire four innings played Saturday. Reed and Johnson were each 2-for-3 from the plate and knocked in a run.
Madill plays at Chickasha Monday (Aug. 19).
