One Girls Group Won Midwestern Relay; One Boys Group Claimed Second Tuesday; See Link for Results

It was a hot start for the Madill cross country teams Tuesday. One Madill girls team that included Isabel Sanchez, Valeria Calderon, Cielo Gomez and Joslyn Stumblingbear won the event. A Madill boys team comprised of Miguel Duran, Anthony Sanchez, Brodie Tull and Diego Ibarra reached the runners-up spot in the Midwestern Relays in Wichita Falls.

“It went pretty well,” Madill cross country head coach Cale Eidson said Tuesday night. “One of our girls teams won it and one of our boys teams got second in a close race. The kids had a lot of fun with it. It was a great experience for them.”

Madill is set to host its’ own meet in Madill Aug. 31.

Miguel Duran will be the defending individual state champion in Class 4A this campaign. Both teams finished fifth overall at the state meet in Shawnee back last October.
