Madill’s varsity softball team suffered a heartbreaking loss to Thackerville 6-5 on Monday night. It was a battle that went back and forth the entire way until Thackerville added the game-winning run in the bottom of the sixth frame.
Madill struck first as Emilie Johnson and Ximena Gomez both scored to lead 2-0 after a half inning of play. Gomez and Beason each had a single in the frame.
Thackerville added a run, but Madill still held the 2-1 edge.
Thackerville pushed two runs across in the bottom of the second stanza before McKenzie Reed launched a double and scored on a double from Abbey Tiernan.
Thackerville regained the lead at 5-3 in the fourth frame.
Mia Beason and Tiernan came across with a run to tie the game 5-all in the fifth.
Reed pitched and struck out one Thackerville batter.
The junior high team lost 6-2 to Tishomingo on Tom Reynolds Field Monday night.
The high school and junior high will play tomorrow at Wilson. The junior high will play first Tuesday.
