The Madill cross country teams are busy putting the fun back in run. And it is paying off for Coach Eidson and the Madill cross country program. The varsity girls grabbed gold in the overall team standings in Class 4A at the pre-state meet in Shawnee Thursday morning atop the course at Gordon Cooper Tech Center. The varsity boys secured the silver for finishing second as a team. That was a jump of six spots for the Wildcats over the 2018 results. Madill’s Miguel Duran took the individual gold with his course-best time of 16:44.91. Valeria Calderon was the top finisher for the Lady Wildcats with a 12:31.44 to earn her fifth place.
“I feel good about how we’re performing at this point in the season leading up to state,” Madill cross country head coach Cale Eidson said Thursday following the meet. “They’re working together and pushing each other to get better in every way.”
“We seem to have some kind of fun everywhere we go. No matter what,” Eidson said.
The junior high boys claimed second place overall and the girls earned third place.
Madill will participate in the Reuel Little Classic Oct. 5.
