Madill Stays Close, Blanchard Pulls Away Late in 'Cats' Loss to Lions Thursday; Watch on Demand

A 33-yard fumble return for a touchdown and subsequent two-point conversion by Madill senior John Venable had the ‘Cats within 21-14 with 5:27 left in the third quarter. However, Blanchard returned an interception 82 yards for a score with 41 seconds left in the third to regain a two-possession lead at 28-14. The Lions’ Bryce Madron capped the scoring as Blanchard pulled away from Madill in the final frame and won 35-14 on Thursday.

Blanchard got on the board first with a TD pass to Chase Fox from Colby Langford from 41 yards with 9:41 showing on the clock in the first quarter. Venable got the first of his two TDs for the Wildcats on a five-yard run at the 4:49 mark of the opening frame. The Lions led 7-6.

The Wildcats drop to 2-5 on the season with a 1-3 mark in district play with the loss to the Lions. Madill plays McLoud Oct. 25 on the road.
