Wildcat Weekend: XC Regional Champs Seeking State Treasure Saturday; Football Hits Road; Streaming

The Madill cross country teams will seek a state championship during the Class 4A meet at 9 a.m. Saturday in Shawnee at the Gordon Cooper Tech Center. Madill has a total of 16 team state championships. The cross country program has attained more than half of those with nine. 

The cross country ‘Cats are enjoying a return to prominence in this region of Oklahoma in 2019 under head coach Cale Eidson as evidenced by the regional championships they won last Saturday in Waurika. The Madill girls are currently ranked No. 2 in Class 4A. The boys are holding steady at No. 3 after having risen to as high as No. 1 earlier in September.

Madill’s Miguel Duran will be looking to defend his individual state title he claimed in 2018. He goes into state as the regional champ after having posted a 17:00.27 Oct. 19. He posted his course-best time in Shawnee Oct. 3 during pre-state. That same trail awaits Madill for the championship event. The varsity football team travels to McLoud on Friday (Oct. 25). The game kicks off at 7:30 p.m. and is expected to be streaming. Click Here for football game Oct. 25. Madill looks for its’ second win in district tomorrow night before hosting Class 4A No. 1 Bethany for senior night Nov. 1. They close the regular season with current No. 10 Tecumseh on the road Nov. 8.
