Eidson Tabbed Region 6 XC Coach of Year by Oklahoma Coaches Association Wednesday Night

Madill cross country head coach Cale Eidson has been voted the Oklahoma Coaches Association cross country coach of the year for Region 6.

“We are very proud of what Coach Eidson is accomplishing with our student-athletes in Madill,” Madill athletics director Bink Stafford said Wednesday night. “He invests a lot of time in them and the cross country program. He has a solid work ethic and the kids want to work hard for him. That is paying off with success.”

This is Eidson's fifth season at the helm at MHS. He guided the girls team to a runners-up finish at the Class 4A state meet in Shawnee Oct. 26. His boys team was third overall at state and made the awards podium. Valeria Calderon reached all-state status by finishing fourth as an individual in the girls event in October. Miguel Duran also finished fourth in the boys competition at the Gordon Cooper Tech Center. Both the boys and girls were regional champions this season under Eidson and Duran was the individual regional champ. Calderon was the individual runner up at regional for the girls.

Eidson ran cross country at East Central University in Ada for the Tigers.
