Madill senior Mateo Fajardo found the end zone twice in the farewell to football season during a 56-22 loss to Tecumseh on the road Friday to close the 2019 gridiron campaign for the Wildcats.
Tecumseh broke out to a 21-0 advantage before Fajardo caught a pass from quarterback Kendall Robertson and raced down the sideline for a 73-yard touchdown with under three minutes to play in the first quarter. Senior John Venable ran in the two point conversion.
The Savages scored four more times in the second frame to take the commanding 49-8 lead into intermission.
Kendall Robertson took the ball 31 yards for a TD with 6:34 remaining in the third period for the ‘Cats. The clock continuously rolled in the second half amid frigid temperatures. Tecumseh found paydirt with 1:08 left in the contest.
Fajardo scored the final TD for the Wildcats’ football team in 2019 on his 87-yard kick return with 52 seconds left in the season.
Madill finished with a 3-7 record in the second season under head coach Todd Vargas.
