Madill’s varsity basketball teams opened the season with convincing wins against Antlers Tuesday night in front of the home crowd in the friendly confines of the Wildcat Fieldhouse. The Lady ‘Cats won 48-34 and the Wildcats were victorious 44-35 over the Bearcats.
In the girls contest, Madill was paced by Jayden Weiberg’s 14 points including three treys. Joslyn Stumblingbear also scored in double figures Tuesday with 11 points. She connected on nine of 11 free throws. Destiney Adams tossed in nine points to help the Lady Wildcats distance themselves from Antlers. Madill’s defense held the Lady Bearcats to single digits in scoring in three of the four quarters.
The Madill boys put the clamps on Antlers in the third frame and canned four triples to essentially close the book on the Bearcats. Miguel Duran scored 13 to lead the Madill boys. Wyatt Gray and Trent Harvey each had eight points in the triumph. The ‘Cats also held Antlers to single digits in three of the four frames Tuesday.
Madill plays in the Winter Classic Thursday, Friday and Saturday night at the Wildcat Fieldhouse.
