Madill Boys Capture Classic Win Friday, Girls Suffer Setback to Marietta; Watch Tourney at Noon

schedulesThe Madill boys stayed undefeated with a 51-28 win over Marietta on day two of the Madill Winter Classic Friday. However, the Lady Wildcats lost 50-41 to the Lady Indians. The Madill girls play Pilot Point at 6 tonight and the ‘Cats face Ardmore JV at 7:30.

In the boys contest, Madill seized control of a tight contest in the second quarter by only allowing three points to the Indians. The ‘Cats pumped in 15 points of their own in the frame to take a 28-13 advantage into intermission. Junior Miguel Duran led the way with 10 points on the night. Three of the the four treys in the first half for the Wildcats came in the second stanza. Kendall Robertson came off the bench to score nine. Aron Vann’s shooting beyond the arc yielded two treys as he collected eight points in the win.

The Madill girls fought tough throughout the game. They outscored Marietta 13-12 in the second and fourth quarters. However, they could not overcome the 17-9 deficit they faced in the first frame. Nine of Jayden Weiberg’s team-high 15 points came from beyond the arc. Abbie Lambertsen added nine points in the contest.
