The Madill Lady Wildcats basketball team has found a winning combination. They used overtime to defeat Tishomingo 55-52 on Friday for the third victory in a row and stand at 5-1 on the season. However, the boys fell 66-45 to the Indians and sit at 4-2.
In the girls contest, Madill jumped to an early lead by holding Tishomingo to a mere three points in the first quarter. Jayden Weiberg hit two treys in the first frame on her way to a team-high 18 points. Abbie Lambertsen tossed in eight of her 12 points in the second period and the Lady ‘Cats held the 26-17 lead by the half. Kristen Chapa made eight of her 10 free throws on the night. The Lady ‘Cats shut the door on Tish by connecting on eight of the 10 free throws they had in overtime.
The boys were held to just single digits in offensive production for the first three quarters Friday night. Tishomingo edged them 24-22 in the final frame.
