Aron Vann calmly sank three of his four free throws with 41 seconds to help Madill nail down a 42-33 triumph over the defending Class 3A state champion Kingston Friday night at home. The win moves Madill to 8-4 on the year and Kingston fell to 6-5 on the season.
Madill held a 34-25 late in the fourth quarter. Kingston had cut the cushion to 34-30 at the 1:05 mark. The ‘Cats climbed on the glass to grasp key rebounds in the waining seconds. The Redskins fouled to put Madill on the charity stripe. Asa Robertson hit a free throw with 44 seconds to go. Miguel Duran led Madill with a game-high 16 points on the evening.
The Lady ‘Cats lost 76-41 to the Kingston club after having beaten them in December on the road.
