'Cats Halted by No. 4 Owls on Mat Thursday; Watch Dual on Demand

The Madill wrestling team fought hard despite having only seven grapplers to compete on the mat in a dual against the Class 4A No. 4 Elgin Owls Thursday night on the road. Madill scored a victory in the 132-pound match in a 7-3 decision for Coby Sandefur. The ‘Cats eventually fell 76-3 for the district 4A-3 crown.

Coty Tweedy, Elijah Connelly, Tito Martinez, Caleb Swinney, Edwin Recio, and Jacob Massey all battled the Owls bravely but suffered setbacks to Elgin that is undefeated in duals this season.

Abbie Tiernan, Jaeda Townsend and Braylee Thompson had exhibition matches for Madill

The dual scheduled for Jan. 28 against Marlow has been canceled. The next competition is the Midwestern Conference tournament Jan. 31-Feb. 1.
