Lady 'Cats Advance to Consolation Final; Boys Drop Game to Lions, Play for Third Saturday

The Madill girls basketball squad powered past Durant’s JV team 51-44 Friday in the Atoka tournament to play in Saturday’s consolation final at 12:30 p.m. Saturday. However, the Wildcats dropped their contest 42-29 in the semifinals and play for third place at 5 p.m. Saturday.

The girls fell behind Durant 12-8 by the end of the first quarter. The Madill team took control in the second quarter to lead 25-14 by halftime.

Madill continued its march on offense in the third frame to grab a 39-24 advantage. Durant made a late push, but the Lady Wildcats held the Lady Lions off for the win.

In the boys contest, power in the paint proved too much for Madill. Durant jumped to an 8-0 lead early. Madill then bounced back to the contest at 10-all. The Lions took a 20-14 cushion into intermission. The Lions flexed its muscle and gained a 32-20 lead by the end of the third.
