The Madill boys basketball team stalled the ball for much of the final quarter after taking control of a tight contest and won 61-47 over the Comanche Indians on the road Friday. It was the third victory in a row for the 13-5 Wildcats. However, the Lady ‘Cats dropped a 77-50 contest to the Lady Indians. Madill’s girls now stand at 10-8 heading into the Feb. 4 game against Sulphur.
In the boys game, Comanche began the game with a 16-11 edge by the end of the first quarter. Madill took the slight 32-31 advantage by halftime in a back-and-forth contest. Then, Madill slowly pulled away in the second half to lead 50-39 by the closing of the third period. Madill took advantage of that lead to shorten the game by pulling the offense out wide, making deliberate passes and essentially keeping the ball away from the Indians. Comanche chose to foul to force Madill to the free thow stripe and Madill wrapped of the win by 14 points.
The Lady ‘Cats only trailed Comanche by two as the first quarter closed. Comanche led 27-17 by halftime. The Lady Indians held a 54-31 lead by the end of the third quarter.
