'Cats Conquer Comets; Lady 'Cats Fall to Dickson Friday; Watch Basketball Games on Demand

The Madill boys basketball team has found a good groove since losing in the semifinals to Durant at the Atoka tournament Jan. 24. Friday’s 61-43 win over Dickson was the fifth consecutive for the ‘Cats to up the record to 15-5 on the season. Ezekiel Fuentes poured in 21 points and Miguel Duran added 18 in the triumph on the road. The girls suffered a 58-38 setback in Dickson. Madill was paced by eight points from sophomore Jayden Weiberg.

The Madill boys clung to a 12-11 at the end of the first quarter. The ‘Cats opened a two-possession lead 27-21 by halftime. The third quarter granted Madill more breathing room at 41-32 at the end of the period. Madill’s stamina proved to be the difference in the final stanza Friday as the outscored the Comets 20-11 for the win. Austin Maxey put the finishes touches on the night with his layup with 17 seconds left in the contest. He finished with eight points.

The girls fell behind just 15-12 in the opening quarter. Madill trailed 31-24 at the half. It was a tough shooting second half for Madill. They were behind 45-28 at the close of the third and shot just 4-of-28 from the floor in the second half in the loss.
