Darryl Fields was a highly sought after recruit during his days as a student-athlete at Madill High School. He held several division I offers to play college football across the nation. Fields was part of the 2009 Madill gridiron group that went undefeated in the regular season and won the district championship. He also helped the Madill boys basketball team make the state tournament in 2009. His track career at MHS included individual state titles in the 200-meter run and 400m event.
He signed with Southern Methodist University to play for head coach June Jones. Click Here to Hear What June Jones said about Fields. He was a freshman All-American kick returner for the Mustangs in 2010. He later transferred to Oklahoma Baptist University to play for the Bison under Chris Jensen in a reboot of a squad that had not performed since 1940.
Fields has a family now and will be playing semi-pro football for the Oklahoma Bears this coming spring. Fields came to MHS last week to discuss his journey. Watch the video to hear from Fields.
