Madill Football Focus Turns to 5A Durant's Lion Eyes Friday; Game Expected on Livestream

The Madill football team has not backed down from facing foes in bigger classes in 2020. The campaign began with a contest last week against 6A Enid. This week, the focus turns to Durant’s Lion Eyes as the team from 5A visits Blake Smiley Stadium for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff on Sept. 4.

This will be the first time the Wildcats and Lions have battled on the gridiron in the regular season since 1983. That season, Durant prevailed in overtime and gave Madill its only loss in the regular year. Madill finished 9-2 overall under Coach Smiley. Durant won the state title. Coach Smiley coached in the all-state contest the following summer.
