The Wildcats made a furious attempt at a comeback against Plainview in the second half Friday night. However, Madill fell just short in a 32-24 loss to the Indians. Madill trailed 25-3 in the second half. That’s when the ‘Cats fired back. A 21-yard touchdown pass to Stephen Sisco in the back corner of the end zone from Kendall Robertson with five minutes remaining in the third quarter gave Madill life at 25-10. Madill pulled a trick play as Nick Northcutt took a reverse handoff from RJ Morrris and threw it back to Kendall Robertson for a 42-yard TD pass with 58 seconds to go in the third. Senior Griffon Williams scored the two-point conversion as he caught a deflected pass.
Caden Pickens widened the margin to 32-18 for Plainview on the strength of his 69-yard TD run with 4:33 left in the fourth. Robertson’s one-yard plunge pulled the ‘Cats within 32-24 at the 1:36 mark. Plainview took over the onside kick attempt to melt the final seconds.
