Red Ribbon Week Begins Oct. 26 for MHS; Holds Deeper Meaning at Madill

Red ribbon week begins Monday (Oct. 26) for Madill. It’s a drug-abuse prevention campaign that originated in 1985. This year’s theme is Be Happy. Be Brave. Be Drug Free. The Madill Students Against Destructive Decisions will lead in this effort with sponsor Kelly Goff. Dress-up days have been organized and prizes will be awarded daily.

The Madill chapter of SADD, formerly Students Against Drunk Driving, was established by former MHS English teacher and principal Cindy Dodds following the death of MHS student Nikki Jones in January of 1990. Jones was a passenger in an alcohol-related automobile accident.
