The Madill girls basketball team opened the season with a convincing 44-32 victory against Antlers Tuesday night. The boys lost a tough contest 47-43 to the Bearcats. Click to Watch Games on Demand
Junior guard Jayden Weiberg was ready for basketball as she poured in the first nine points for the Lady Wildcats Tuesday. Antlers was held off the scoreboard for most of the first quarter. Madill built a 21-14 lead by the half.
Weiberg finished with 20 points. Braylee Schneider helped out with 12 points on the evening. The press on defense gave Madill a decided advantage in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter to pull away and win by double digits.
In the boys contest, the action swung back and forth. The ‘Cats trailed Antlers 12-11 by the end of the first quarter. Madill took a 21-20 edge into the locker room at the half.
Miguel Duran paced Madill with his 19 points.Kendall Robertson had eight points. Nick Northcutt finished with seven points.
