The Madill girls basketball team defeated Atoka 59-50 and the ‘Cats beat the Wampuscats 59-45 on Saturday at the Wildcat Fieldhouse.
The Lady Wildcats are building a solid force from inside the paint and on the perimeter. Jayden Weiberg scored a team-leading 23 points and Braylee Schneider joined her in double figures with 11 within the lane.
Madill’s girls forged a 13-11 advantage by the conclusion of the first frame and was tied with the Lady Wampuscats 25-25 at the half. The third quarter proved to be the difference in the contest as the Lady ‘Cats outscored Atoka 18-10 in the third frame. Each squad bucketed 14 points in the final quarter. Weiberg canned three baskets from beyond the arc and Ximena Gomez nailed one trey while scoring seven points in the victory. Joslyn Stumblingbear finished the afternoon with eight that involved four free throws made. Mariana Mendez turned in a solid performance that included six points. Lydia Landgraf and Aubrey Cantrell each had a bucket.
The Madill boys were bouyed by Zeke Fuentes’ 18 points. Miguel Duran was in rhythm with 16 points while nailing four shots from the three-point line. Nick Northcutt put up 11 on the day.
The ‘Cats were tied 13-all by the conclusion of the first quarter and retreated to the locker room at halftime with a 35-21 lead in their hand. Madill slowed the pace in the second half and got a 15-point victory. Kendall Robertson collected seven points. Mason Coles, Javier Gomez and sophomore RJ Morris each tossed in two points. River Shaw contributed a point from the charity stripe.
