The Madill football team took its’ second consecutive road trip Friday to come away with a convincing 49-26 win against the Class 5A Durant Lions on the campus of Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
The ‘Cats really left no do as to which team was better Friday night. From the opening kick, Madill was in complete control. Yovanny Robles recovered his own onside kick on the first play. Madill march down and scored on a Holden McGahey touchdown run of three yards. River Shaw added a safety ehen he tackled the Durant punter in his own end zone of the Lions’ first shot on offense. Kendall Robertson avoided a heavy ruish to complete a pass to an alert Uziel Flores for a 12-yard score for the ‘Cats. Nick Northcutt caught a 27-yard pass in the corner of the end zone to give Madill a 22-0 lead in the second frame. McGahey scored again on a two-yard plunge. Robertson added a rushing TD of his own to put the Wildcats up 35-7. Madill led 35-13 at the half. Stephen Sisco took a Robertson pass 64 yards for a score in the third quarter and Robertson connected with Rey Gomez on a 46-yard TD pass later in the third frame.
Madill meets Marietta Sept. 10 for military appreciation night.
