Sulphur outlasted Madill 42-27 on the gridiron Friday night to hand the ‘Cats a loss for the first time this season.
Sulphur struck first on a Daniel Amaya 33-yard touchdown jaunt after an interception by Madill. The ‘Cats answered with a 55-yard connection from Kendall Robertson to Stephen Sisco to make it 7-all . Sisco finished the game with 11 receptions.
The teams traded TDs in the second quarter. The Bulldogs stretched the lead in the second frame to 21-7. The ‘Cats then scored on a TD reception by Caden McHatton from 37 yards away. The Wildcats tied it on a Nick Northcutt TD reception from the seven-yard line. The Dogs worked on the clock while keeping the ball on the ground. Mace Mobly scored on a 10-yard run for the only score in the third.
River Shaw punctuated Madill’s scoring by catching a TD in the end zone as time expired.
