Girls XC Team Moves Up to No. 7 Ahead of State on Saturday; Meet Expected on NFHS Pay-Per-View

The Madill girls have moved up to No. 7 in Class 4A in the latest rankings published by OHSTrack ahead of the state meet on Saturday at Edmond Santa Fe. Isabel Sanchez just posted her best time (12:17.15) of 2021 en route to the individual regional championship in Waurika Oct. 23. The girls qualified as a team through the regional over the weekend.

“I don’t make much about those rankings, they mean very little. I feel good about the girls and their mindset going into Saturday,” Madill cross country head coach Cale Eidson said Tuesday. “Anything is possible.”

The Madill boys just missed out on qualifying as a group by finishing eighth over at the regional. However, Anthony Sanchez and James Valadez punched a ticket to state. Sanchez finished 13th with an 18:34.58. Valadez, a freshman, arrived 25th with a time of 19:46.14.

“Anthony and James have a good opportunity to go run well to represent Madill,” Eidson said.

The girls run at 2:35 p.m. and the boys run at 2:55 p.m. The OSSAA is only selling tickets to the state meet exclusively online. Fans will need to visit Go Fan to Purchase Tickets Click Here
