Sanchez Achieves All-State, Madill Girls Finish Fifth at XC State in Edmond Saturday; Boys Top 100

Madill senior Isabel Sanchez crossed the line in 10^th place overall as an individual to achieve all-state status during the OSSAA Class 4A state meet at Edmond Santa Fe Saturday. The Madill girls finished fifth as a team a couple of notches above where most thought they would going into Saturday’s competition.

“It feels good,” Isabel Sanchez said of making all-state. The Lady Wildcat senior runner is expected to sign a letter of intent this November to run cross country at Southwestern in Weatherford next season. Sanchez crossed the line in a time of 12:34.52.

"Isabel earned all state honors this year placing 10th overall," Madill cross country head coach Cale Eidson said. "She ran a hard race with some great competition."

Madill’s Korlee Cunningham-Martin posted a personal record time of 13:30.34 for 33^rd in the girls division. Kaytleigh Davis, Kaiah Henry, Nahtali Ibarra, Joslyn Stumblingbear, and Yvette Ariciaga also ran today and contributed to Madill’s top-five finish.

"The girls did well as a team to be back in the top 5 again this year," Eidson said.

Anthony Sanchez was 65^th and James Valadez was 96^th in the boys division.

“The boys ran hard to represent their team, and that’s all we could ask of them,” Eidson said.
