Madill senior Isabel Sanchez crossed the line in 10th place overall as an individual to achieve all-state status during the OSSAA Class 4A state meet at Edmond Santa Fe Saturday. The Madill girls finished fifth as a team a couple of notches above where most thought they would going into Saturday’s competition.
“It feels good,” Isabel Sanchez said of making all-state. The Lady Wildcat senior runner is expected to sign a letter of intent this November to run cross country at Southwestern in Weatherford next season. Sanchez crossed the line in a time of 12:34.52.
"Isabel earned all state honors this year placing 10th overall," Madill cross country head coach Cale Eidson said. "She ran a hard race with some great competition."
Madill’s Korlee Cunningham-Martin posted a personal record time of 13:30.34 for 33rd in the girls division. Kaytleigh Davis, Kaiah Henry, Nahtali Ibarra, Joslyn Stumblingbear, and Yvette Ariciaga also ran today and contributed to Madill’s top-five finish.
"The girls did well as a team to be back in the top 5 again this year," Eidson said.
Anthony Sanchez was 65th and James Valadez was 96th in the boys division.
“The boys ran hard to represent their team, and that’s all we could ask of them,” Eidson said.
