Madill senior basketball player Jayden Weiberg is expected to sign to play basketball in college at East Central University in Ada. A signing ceremony is planned for 12:45 p.m. on Nov. 12 inside the Madill Wildcat Fieldhouse (current gym) on the campus of Madill High School.
Weiberg was selected all-Lake Country Conference as a junior for the Lady 'Cats and is a member of Oklahoma Swish.
"Jayden (Weiberg) is a great leader on and off the court," Madill girls basketball head coach Shawn Runyan said. "She is a staple on our team."
Weiberg holds several offers but committed to the Lady Tigers Oct. 5.
“The (ECU) coaches offered a great scholarship,” Jayden Weiberg said. “I got to meet the team and the girls are super nice and very kind. I think I could definitely see myself being a part of that program.”
"She is a very sweet and caring person off the court, but super competitive on the court," Runyan said.
Weiberg plays point guard for the Lady Wildcats. She said that ECU will have her in the role of a shooting guard.
Her father, Brett Weiberg, is the Madill athletics director and boys basketball coach.
Her grandfather Mick Weiberg coached basketball at Northern in Tonkawa and his name is on the basketball court there. Her uncle Chad Weiberg currently serves as the athletics director for Oklahoma State University in Stillwater.
Weiberg said she is still trying to decide on a major but perhaps business.
