Madill senior girls basketball player Jayden Weiberg celebrated signing her letter of intent on Friday afternoon in the Madill Wildcat Fieldhouse. Weiberg has signed to play basketball for the East Central University women's basketball team in Ada.
“A huge part of it would be the girls and the coaches for sure.” Jayden Weiberg said of the reason she chose ECU. “On my visit I spent a lot of time with the team and really getting to know them.”
She was joined by her family, teammates, coaches and friends at today’s ceremony.
"Kind of a special day for me because it's always a great day when a Wildcat signs to play college athletics," Madill athletics director Brett Weiberg said in his opening remarks at the signing ceremony Friday afternoon. "And today, a little bit extra special because it's Jayden, my daughter."
"Jayden is a great leader on and off the court," Madill girls basketball head coach Shawn Runyan said. "She is the staple of our team."
Weiberg will most likely be taking on the role of a shooting guard at East Central.
“Go strong and hard at everything you do,” Jayden said. “Always do your best.”
Weiberg was an all-Lake Country Conference selection as a junior for the Lady Wildcats last season and is a member of Oklahoma Swish.
Madill basketball begins the regular season Dec. 3.
