Zang's Voice Rang Out, Madill Junior Attains All-State Status Saturday

Madill junior Abby Zang sang her way into being an All-State vocalist Saturday at the University Of Central Oklahoma in Edmond. She was officially selected for the Oklahoma Music Educators Association All-State Chorus. They will perform in January of 2022 now.

“With the vocal auditions they have 4 songs they start out the year with.  This year it contained a song in Latin, a song in German, a lyrical piece and then a technical piece. Each audition she took part in they took different parts from a mix of the songs. Today included the lyrical, the German, and the Latin songs,” Madill music instructor Samantha Faulkner said.

Zang advanced through the first round of auditions Oct. 30 at East Central University in Ada.

"Abby did a wonderful job today!" Faulkner said Saturday night. "She went against students all over the state, from class 2A through class 6A, and represented Madill with a wonderful audition."

The group has a performance in Tulsa at the state music convention right after the new year begins this coming January.
