Weiberg Reaches 1,000 Career Points, Setting School Career Three-Point Record

Madill basketball senior Jayden Weiberg already has signed to play college basketball for East Central University in Ada after she graduates from MHS in May. The senior was recognized Friday for reaching the 1,000 points scored in a career mark. In the process, she has the next school record for three-point field goals made in a career for Madill girls basketball. The former mark was held by Madill alum Meagan Rose. Rose was on hand Friday for the presention before the homecoming games with Sulphur.

“I had the pleasure of meeting Jayden Friday night,” Rose siad. “I couldn't be more proud of her for being the new record holder. She is a lot of fun to watch on the court and I wish her the best of luck as she continues on to the next level. ECU is gaining an amazing athlete.”

Weiberg received a basketball designed by Madill art instructor Lacy Blackburn. Rose’s former mark was 144. Weiberg has surpassed that and will set a new mark for the school with each three-point basket made the remainder of her senior campaign.
